VISION

The goals that I have in my future are:

Business:

1) I would like to become a top level executive in a firm: I work as an accounting manager in my company but my company has been aquired by another firm. This has happened to me twice and I would like to be in a position where I am not worried for bread and butter for my family.
2) Real estate residual income: I would like to buy atleast 2 properties which will fetch me residual income so that I can capitalize on my assets.
3) Consulting Business: I would like to be my own boss at one point and manage my time and resources myself. Having 3 or more big clients will help me maintain work life balance as well as make good money.

Personal:

1) Top education from an accredited university.
2) CPA, CMA and CTP certifications.
3) Giving top education to my kids and making them great professionals.
4) Paying my house loan 100%

Steps taken to achieve these goals:

1) I am going to school to finish my undergraduate from this country even though I have an undergraduate from my school so that I can get CPA, CMA and CTP certified.
2) I am going to try to get admission in the wharton MBA program so that I can rise to a top exceutive within a firm. I am also working extremely hard as I am managing 2 kids, husband, full time job, full time school at the same time. Even after doing multiple things, my GPA is 3.81 and am hoping to graduate with 3.85(this is my last semester) so that I can apply for Wharton.
3) I am on top of my kids education and they are doing great in school.
4) I have already managed to get few small clients so that this would give me a base for my future consulting career.

Steps in the Planning Process

Steps in The Planning Process:We did a pretty good job at planning our project. We took the following steps:
a) Defining goals and objectives: We divided our group into specific tasks and assigned one task to each member. We also outlined the chronological order of doing things. For example: One would get the scissors, two people will make triangles, one person will hold the egg and one person will put them together. We even identified the time it will take for each person and the total combined time for the group.
b) Resources: We saw who was the shortest and so that person can drop the egg..who is not clumsy so they can hold the egg..who is better at designing and putting the design together and utilized our resources well so we were finished way before the time finished.
c) Alternative Scenarios: We thought that if the triangle idea does not work, we should use the circular idea and drew both the designs to be implemented.
d) Allocating Resources: Each person was given a specific task to do based on his area of expertise.
e) The plan was implemented successfully. The whole issue why our plan failed was because one member started pasting the left over tape on several places so we had to drop pur egg twice as it needed to be 50% visible. If I have to do this all over again, I would make sure as a manager that every person abides by the plan. But the whole experience was very entertaining and learning adventure.

The Biggest Management Issue

GOLeaders said...
The biggest management issue which I am facing is with my Boss who is taking credit for all the work which I do. He makes me do all the research and reports and presents them as his own in front of the CFO. I hope to learn a good solution for this issue as we progress through the semester

Decision Making

We were given an assignment by the professor to discuss in the class different ways by which we would like to negotiate our grade. The class had to come up with decisions and our resources were getting limited as the professor disclosed more information as the activity progressed.

I used collaboration and accomodation combined as I feel the best way to achieve results is by working in the groiup for the group rather than working against each other. We discussed different options and I was open to listening to others as sometimes an idea can come during brainstorming which can be beneficial to me personally in the long run.

I also wanted to think of us as a group as a whole and be the team player. I think the result was good as we got extra credit and we can drop the lowest grade but if I had to do this all over again, I would still adopt the same technique as I feel it is very effective when it comes to making a decision in a team.
