Hi! Nice to meet you all

Hi All,

My name is Shimpy and I am a senior at Baruch College. I am an accounting major and work in the accounting field currently.

I am very excited about this management course as I have heard that the professor is great and it seems very interesting already.

Looking forward to a great semester with all of you.

Thanks! Accounting is hard but it is a lot of fun and is very challenging. I am glad to be a senior at last but am a little sad as I will be leaving Baruch and all the fun classmates.

The biggest management issue which I am facing is with my Boss who is taking credit for all the work which I do. He makes me do all the research and reports and presents them as his own in front of the CFO. I hope to learn a good solution for this issue as we progress through the semester

Hello my fellow accounting major. That is quite an issue. Its really horrible that your boss would take the credit for your work, without even acknowledging your input.
It would be difficult to confront him/her about it, but ultimately that may be the only recousre to you problem. You would just have to be mindful of your boss's temperamenta nd remember to be respectful.

Steps in The Planning Process:

We did a pretty good job at planning our project. We took the following steps:

a) Defining goals and objectives: We divided our group into specific tasks and assigned one task to each member. We also outlined the chronological order of doing things. For example: One would get the scissors, two people will make triangles, one person will hold the egg and one person will put them together. We even identified the time it will take for each person and the total combined time for the group.

b) Resources: We saw who was the shortest and so that person can drop the egg..who is not clumsy so they can hold the egg..who is better at designing and putting the design together and utilized our resources well so we were finished way before the time finished.

c) Alternative Scenarios: We thought that if the triangle idea does not work, we should use the circular idea and drew both the designs to be implemented.

d) Allocating Resources: Each person was given a specific task to do based on his area of expertise.

e) The plan was implemented successfully. The whole issue why our plan failed was because one member started pasting the left over tape on several places so we had to drop pur egg twice as it needed to be 50% visible.

If I have to do this all over again, I would make sure as a manager that every person abides by the plan.

But the whole experience was very entertaining and learning adventure.
